Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that affects the quality of one's sleep. It is characterised by pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while sleeping. Sleep Apnea leads to reduced oxygen flow to the brain and symptoms can include day-time drowsiness, insufficient sleep, decreased mood, reduced cognitive function, loud snoring, waking up with a dry mouth or sore throat and morning headaches or migraines. In serious cases Sleep Apnea can lead to health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
If you suspect yourself or your partner of having sleep apnea you can visit your GP and ask about a referral for a full bulk-billed at-home sleep study by Cates Chemist, with a report from Sleep Physician.

Cate’s Chemist Hyde Park also offer a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device trial with our ResMed machines - CPAP is not always the best solution for sleep apnea. If CPAP is beneficial for your sleep apnea, we also sell several models of ResMed machines, useful for bedside use and for travelling. For more information call Cate’s Chemist Hyde Park or contact your GP to discuss a referral.
